Fungal Toenails

Toenail fungus can be embarrassing, annoying and even painful. A fungal infection of the toenails are caused by dermatophytes, yeast, and molds. Fungal toenails affects many people and all ages.

Causes:

Toenail fungus (Onychomycosis) can begin from an infection of the skin called tinea pedis or “athlete’s foot”, which then incorporates under the nail causing a change in appearance. Fungus can also incorporated into the nail bed due to trauma, excessive friction or rubbing of the nail and pedicures.

Symptoms:

Nails can appear, discolored, thicken, difficult to trim and may cause pain.
