A neuroma is a condition that usually begins when a nerve is compressed this may then leads to thickening of the nerve. The most common neuroma in the foot is called a “Morton’s neuroma”, which occurs between the third and fourth toes.
Causes:
Neuromas are most often caused by tight fitting shoes or a particular foot type.
Symptoms:
Cramping, burning and numbness. Individuals may also feel as if there is something in inside the ball of the foot.
Symptoms can also present with a shock like pain that shoots up into the foot
Diagnosis:
The foot and ankle surgeon will obtain a history and physical. Diagnosis is based on clinical examination of the foot and radiographic evaluation.
Treatment:
